This unusual documentary is a moving tribute to Ivan Roqué, one of the most remarkable guerilla fighters to rebel against Argentina’s military dictatorship. The portrait was made by the rebel’s own daughter. She was only 10 years old when he was assassinated. Now she has created this poignant investigation into her own past, as she attempts to discover who her father really was. Using his last letter to her as a guide, the young filmmaker interviews eyewitnesses and her late father’s friends, including her own mother. We learn about the circumstances of his death. But we are also taught, in a very personal way, about the harsh reality of life in Argentina during the dark days of dictatorship: the film provides a key to a better understanding of recent Argentinean history.
